GATE PTX HPA Pistol Review: Airsoft Innovation at It's First

GATE PTX HPA Airsoft Pistol Review

The GATE PTX HPA Pistol, one of the most anticipated released in airsoft in 2026 is almost here, but is it any good?

We’ve run our YouTube channel for about two years. No other product has been requested for a video more than the GATE PTX.

Everyone is super hyped for this one, but what makes it so special?

What Makes the GATE PTX Special?

The First of its Kind

Unlike other airsoft pistols that need an adapter for HPA, the GATE PTX needs no conversion. It is the only HPA pistol in the world with a pre-installed HPA engine out of the box. Like the Wolverine MTW, GATE developed an entirely new style of HP engine to fit inside.

The Pulsar S2 engine has a VSSR-style hop-up chamber. It delivers HPA SMG or rifle power in a compact pistol size. Because of the compact size, it’s so easy to run around with and manoeuvre around. Making it ideal for CQB situations as you don’t have a bulky mag adapter like you would with an AP or Hi-Capa. It’s also more reliable and consistent than a mag adapter.

So simply put, the PTX is the first of its kind and innovation in Airsoft.

Premium Build Quality

Made from 7075 aircraft-grade CNC aluminium, the highest grade of CNC aluminium you can get. You see this a lot on CTM parts for AP’s and Hi-Cappas. Basically, this thing will break you before it breaks itself if you fall on it.

Despite being made from CNC aluminium, it’s got a matte anodised finish that is comfortable to hold. I’ve held other things made from 7075 CNC aluminium, and they’re quite heavy in the hand and can be quite tough to hold. The PTX Pistol has got a nice comfortable grip to it.

I appreciate that GATE have obviously put a lot of time into this to make the build quality and internals this good. Having a full 7075 aircraft-grade aluminium Airsoft Pistol is impressive.

Internal Power

GATE are famed for their MOSFETS and the PTX comes pre-installed with a GATE Aster 2 V3 FCU. You can configure the setting through the GATE App on your phone. It’s got an optical sensor in there and a magnetic spring for an adjustable trigger stop and sensitivity. Basically, it lets you adjust a load of different settings straight from your phone. Nice and easy.

GATE have pretty much thought of everything. You don’t even need a battery with this thing. It comes with a 410mAh 7.4 HPA battery inside, one of the biggest I’ve seen for HPA batteries. You also get a decent amount of battery life out of it as well.

Capacity

You get an 80 round mag out of the box, but you can get 120 round mags. The mags themselves glide in easily, but they are Pistol-style mags. With them being mid-caps, they load like an AEG mid-cap. They are easy to load with any type of speed loader. I do really like these magazines, they’re high-quality and feel great.

Unfortunately, the mags are proprietary. You’re not going to be able to use mags from anything you’ve already got. You are also limited to 80 or 120 rounds compared to an M4 HPA adapter that would let you use M4 mid-caps.

Accessories & Future Support

You’ll notice at the front of the PTX there is some space to mount some accessories like a tactical flashlight. You can’t mount optics out of the box, but there is a mounting plate that you can buy separately. Upon release, you can get a compensator as well.

Even though the PTX hasn’t been released yet, GATE are already working on future upgrades. These include a tracer unit, BB counter display and an integrated USB-C charger so, you don’t need to take the battery out. It’s good to know that GATE are already looking at a future for the PTS. They are really good at keeping their products up to date with new firmware and software.

GATE are clearly committed so, if you invest in this Airsoft Pistol, you’ve got a lot to look forward to. They should be releasing more and more accessories and updates to keep it fresh.
